World's Biggest Cow Escapes Slaughter Because It's Too Big To Fit In Abattoir (Pics) THE world's biggest cow will be saved from the chop after its 6ft 4in frame is too big to fit into abattoir, a farmer revealed. Knickers, a seven-year-old Holstein Friesian, is more than twice the size of the rest of the cows in Myalup, Western Australia. Holstein-Friesians are a dairy breed and normally weigh in at about 1,500 pounds and stand about 4ft 1oins tall. Even the breed's bulls only reach just 5ft 10ins and weigh 2,200lbs. Butchers say the giant would produce around 1,400 lbs of trimmed "saleable" beef  - enough for 450 cuts of steak and 370kg of mince. The bovine behemoth stands head and shoulders above other farm beasts and weighs in at an incredible 1.4 tonnes (3,083lbs). Michelle Avila, 23, and her boyfriend Christian Kent, 20, went out to a party but “weren’t drinking much” because they were both ill, according to reports. They came home about 12.30am and went to bed but the next day Michelle’s family discovered them both dead in the young woman’s childhood bed. The pair, from Newport Beach in Orange County, California, both had colds and had been taking antibiotics but her family believe they died from an opiate overdose – a tragic problem that is becoming more prevalent in the affluent beach community. 22 Killed, 22 Injured In China’s Chemical Plant Blast An explosion and fire near a chemical factory left at least 22 people dead and 22 others injured in northern China on Wednesday, authorities said. The incident near Hebei Shenghua Chemical Co. in Zhangjiakou, a city some 200 kilometers (124 miles) northwest of Beijing, also burned 50 large and small trucks, the local propaganda department said on its Weibo social media account. The injured were taken to hospital for treatment following the blast, which occurred at 00:41 am, according to the statement. The charred and smoking remains of trucks and cars were scattered on a road as firefighters worked at the scene, according to photos posted on Twitter by state broadcaster CGTN. “On-site search and rescue work and investigation of the cause of the accident are still underway,” the propaganda department said. Number of syphilis cases in Japan jumps to 47-year-high

The number of syphilis patients in Japan has risen to 6,096, this year, a 47-year-high, the Tokyo-based National Institute of Infectious Diseases reported on Wednesday. The latest figures as of Nov. 18 have already surpassed 2017’s 5,820 cases, with the numbers climbing especially among men in their 20s to 40s and women in their 20s, according to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. The number of syphilis cases has increased dramatically since 2011, when the nation saw 827 cases, according to the ministry. However, the cause of the rapid rise remains unclear. About a quarter of the 6,096 cases or 1,548 were found in Tokyo this year, followed by 1,043 cases in the prefecture of Osaka, the institute said. Of the 5,081 patients in the January-to-September period, men accounted for 66 per cent and women 34 per cent, according to the institute. Cigarette sales in South Korea kept falling this year on higher price and the government-led anti-smoking campaign, a Government report showed on Monday. Cigarette smoking The number of 20-cigarette packs sold here was 28.98 million for the first 10 months of this year, down 1.9 per cent from the same period of 2017, according to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. The monthly average cigarette sale tumbled from 3.63 million in 2014 to 2.77 million in 2015 as the cigarette price rose by 80 per cent to 4,500 won (4 U.S. dollars) per pack. The monthly average figure gained to 3.05 million in 2016, but it declined to 2.94 million in 2017 as the government ordered tobacco companies to put graphic warnings on the upper part of both cigarette packs beginning December 2016. The reading shed to 2.9 million in the January-October period of this year.
